i carry your heart with me (i carry it in my heart)
i carry your heart with me (i carry it in
my heart) i am never without it (anywhere
i go you go, my dear; and whatever is done
by only me is your doing, my darling)
i fear
no fate (for you are my fate, my sweet) i want
no world (for beautiful you are my world, my true)
and it's you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you
here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life; which grows
higher than the soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart
i carry your heart (i carry it in my heart)

Maggie read this as a surprise present at Rose's wedding ~ In Her Shoes
In Her Shoes is one of my favourite movies of all time, and a key reason for that is this poem. My best friend and I cried so many times during the movie, which was so unexpected as we thought it was meant to be a romantic comedy. I was especially sad during the scene when Cameron Diaz learnt that the English professor had passed away...
ReplyDeleteAnyway, just discovered your blog through ReadandEat. Nice blog!
hi Snowdrops! thanks for stopping by.
ReplyDeleteI was pretty glad that I chose it while I was on the plane - there were so many movies on their list! I always like Cameron Diaz and was quite happy with her performance, though the character was rather stereotyped (for her).
I, too, cried many times during the movies and there were many scenes that were touching. I agree with you about the English professor - it was as though Maggie was finally taken for seriously at last, but was only for such short period of time.
