Was that Drizzle?25C
Dearest c,
When we were there, the main activity was not to visit the checkpoint, museums (I don't remember there being museums at all. Are they new???) or those boards that have recorded what happened then but to SHOP at the souvenir shop! Well, we were in a group tour, what can you expect? I got my new Zwilling clipper there, and I'm still using it now. (It took me a while to get used to it though.)
Berlin was such a blur to me though there must have been so much more to see. It's a place full of so much history, stories, and lives of those who have lived bravely. It still struck me that where I could step easily over those two lines of bricks on the road was once where freedom was blocked and the same country was divided into two opposites.
Yes, 20 years+ have passed and lives must have changed a lot. Um, really?
Love,
lu
visiting berlin and prague both make my heart ache. so many stories to tell yet so much silence. i dunno if people have moved on now but the city has certainly changed.
ReplyDeletei assume the museums have been there for a while? i saw an organised japanese group visiting the nefertiti (forgot the name of the museum alread! doh) and then i saw them again at pergamon.
our grouped tours... you can't expect too much la... (visiting museums, esp. when you have to pay is probably not a very appealing itinerary item, you know :P)
ReplyDeletei guess the younger generation must be very different to their peers a few decades ago, and the city now would have a lot more people coming in from other countries/cities. that must be bringing sparks to the city and the people.
i dunno, if the japanese can do it, i guess it should be doable, right? though i dunno much about their culture anyway. :P
ReplyDeletedon't know. i just have this feeling that those who like to spend time in the museum would avoid joining group tours and vice versa :P
