They took away the share and comment features, now they just took the whole thing down... The Almighty Google, what's next? Blogger?
[ok, the subject maybe a little overreactive, but it cannot express the magnitude of my annoyance right now.]
totally devastated by this news too. Google reader is what i check in every day. nope i don't play candy crush, i rarely log into facebook. But reader is the thing which i think my time can be spent on wisely, with instant satisfaction from a deep, deep learning process...
ReplyDeletegoogle should know this action will outrage its users, but it still goes ahead....aiya...no eye see...don't think an online petition, as I see, will make it turnaround the decision....
i guess as some ppl said, just sign the petition to make the voices heard, but no, it's not going to change anything.
Deletei guess if it's not a revenue generating product, it makes sense not to keep it as a business decision. but when GOOG starts to take things away that are good and working, it just reinforces the fact that there is nothing free in this world. (do they actually take our data/info from the feeds and stars as well... if that's the case, it's actually not non-revenue generating.)
and they said they decided to do so because the number of users is declining... well, it's kinda self-inflicted. i'm sure LOTS of people have withdrawn after they took away the share and comment functions. did those people really turn to G+? i don't know. i hope not. because that's the only way to proof that they are wrong.
convenience vs. over dependence on the same provider, it's a neverending debate.
i don't think people are turning to G+....G+ is still not popular..hahaha...plus its interface is messy (just like fb). Reader is a simple-yet-beautiful information aggregator, which i can easily distinguish between read and unread items, neatly sorted into different folders...... the revenue generating question, i've also thought about it... i dunno, perhaps apart from advertisement placements (eg via search engines) or selling our privacy/personal data, it is really difficult to gain profit from us...
Deletebut google reader is really one GREAT GREAT product, all these years . Sorry to see its demise
agree, such an annoying news !!
ReplyDeletei know. people complained about its look but i thought it looks fine. the ease of use is most important - clean, slick, with great functions...
ReplyDeletehave to start trying out different replacements :(
